Kitakata is a city located in the northern part of the Aizu region of Fukushima Prefecture, and is famous as the birthplace of Kitakata ramen, also known as one of Japan's three most notable ramen. There is "Kura no Machi" and "Shingu Kumano Shrine Nagatoko" where you can experience traditional culture. Additionally, Kitakata, where sake brewing has been thriving since a long time ago, has 11 breweries that still uphold its tradition and taste.

Kitakata City is also a place for sake brewing that uses high quality underground water from the Iide Mountain Range. Kitakata's sake, which boasts numerous awards in national sake appraisals, as well as ones in Fukushima Prefecture, and other competitions at an international level, boasts of incredible flavors which are convincingly delicious not only at the local level but also nationwide. There are also sake breweries that you can visit, so how about having a drink while you take a walk around town?

Kitakata City is also famous for being a town of kuras (warehouses), so you can enjoy sightseeing along the streets lined with warehouses. On a vast site, various kinds of warehouses and private houses form an unspoilt Japanese landscape, reminding people of the bygone days.

Approximately 1,000 weeping cherry blossoms along a road that stretches about 3km blossom and you can stroll under the cherry willows. The former railway line that once pass through here has been turned into a promenade, and a steam locomotive is put on display in the middle of the walkway.
