Misawa City is famously known as the "Town of Skies", with one of the best aviation facilities in the country, and an american military base located in the city. With a population of 40,000 people, and along with about 8000 Americans living in the city, the city exudes an air of foreigness. There are also many famous foods such as the best burdock root in Japan, "Mizawa Hiru Ika" and Hokki-Don.

Hokki-Don is a donburi dish made with Hokki clams from Misawa City. You can find Hokki-Don all over the city, with each shop having their own flavoring and way of cooking. You can enjoy this winter dish of Misawa in many different ways.
Around Misawa City
You can not only see airplanes that are located at Misawa Base, but also many models of airplanes from both Japan and the United States of America. There are also Japanese Defense Force and American Military Air Shows, and other events. Every year around one hundred thousand people attend the festival.
