Located between the Ou mountain range and the Kitakami mountain range, where the Kitakami river flows through the center, lies Shiwa Town, a town endowed with the riches of nature. It is filled with spots where you can experience seasonal fruit picking. As the top grape-growing area in the prefecture, the grapes picked in the town are used as ingredients for producing wine.

The Sahinai district of Shiwa-cho is one of the most important grape-producing areas in Iwate Prefecture. In the vineyards, grape bunches that have grown mellow are snipped off and can be eaten on the spot.

At the winery that focuses on grapes 100% produced in Shiwa-cho, there is a farm offering various experiences such as wine factory tour and taste-testing, hands-on workshops for making soba and pizza, and grape picking.

When spring arrives, about 2000 cherry blossom trees color the park on a small hill located approximately in the center of Shiwa-cho. This is Shiwa's place to go for relaxation, where you can feel free to enjoy either by taking a walk or jogging.
