Semboku City is located in the central east part of Akita Prefecture. It is a famous sightseeing town, with Kakunodate Samurai Houses, the cherry blossoms at the Hinokinai River, The deepest lake in Japan- Lake Tazawa, and famous hot springs such as Nyuto Hot Spring.

Known for being brightly colored and for the Tatsuko-Princess myth, Lake Tazawa is a circular lake that has a circumference of 20 kilometers. With a depth of 423.4 meters, it is the deepest lake in Japan. You can enjoy the lake during all four seasons, with the mysterious atmosphere it has. Around the lake there are historical sites and ruins, as well as an abundant variety of leisure spots. You can enjoy by taking a drive, cycling, and riding boats on the lake.
About a 15-minute bus ride from JR Tazawako Station with the Ugo Kotsu Bus. Right by Tazawa Kohan bus stop.
A ticket where you can go to all seven hot springs called “Yumeguri Booklet” is available for purchase. Nyuto Hot Springs in popular even among other “secret hot springs”. Each hot spring has their own hot spring source, and the mountain atmosphere creates a wonderful atmosphere to enjoy. Surrounded by beech trees, the quite environment will let you enjoy the traditional hot spring experience.
About a 45-minute bus ride from JR Tazawako Station taking the bus to Nyuto Onsengo. Right by Kyugamura mae bus stop “Nyuto Hot Spring Village – Kyugamura”
Known as Michinoku “Little Kyoto”, you can see the strong remains of samurai lifestyles at Kakunodate Bukeyashiki Road. You can see the inside of the estates. The beautiful town can be enjoyed suring every season.
